About WE Advocate

Whitley Sanchez, a professional disability advocate from Houston, TX.

I'm Whitley, a passionate advocate for children with disabilities and a proud Houston native. With a background as a certified special education teacher, ARD facilitator, and member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA), I have witnessed firsthand how the public education system approaches the unique needs of students with disabilities.

I firmly believe that every child has an undeniable right to learn in an environment that meets their educational needs, and every parent deserves the resources and support necessary to safeguard this fundamental right. It's my mission to bridge the gap between these rights and reality by recognizing every child as a unique individual with a distinct set of strengths, challenges and aspirations. I approach every case with a commitment to collaboration, looking beyond the labels and report cards to advocate for a learning plan that  honors the unique qualities and potential of every child.

By partnering as a team, we can unlock your child's full potential and ensure their educational journey is one of growth, support, and inclusivity. Together, we can secure your child's educational rights.

Services

Our dedicated services are designed to support parents at every stage of the ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meeting process, meeting you where you are in your journey. Whether you're just beginning or seeking to maximize your child's educational support, we're here to assist you.  Our mission is to empower parents to become effective advocates for their children's education. We work alongside you to navigate the ARD process, advocating for the best possible educational outcomes for your child. Whether you're just starting or seeking to enhance your advocacy efforts, we're here to provide tailored support every step of the way.

Initial Guidance

If you're new to ARD meetings, we provide an orientation to help you understand the process. We'll explain what to expect, your rights, and how to request the services your child is legally entitled to receive.

Document Review

Our document review service ensures a holistic evaluation of your child's educational requirements. We meticulously examine all relevant documents, including evaluations, previous IEP/504 plans, report cards, teacher notes, and external service provider records. Our goal is to guarantee that your child's educational needs are addressed comprehensively, covering academic, functional, behavioral, communicative, and orientation/mobility aspects.

Communication Assistance

We can help you draft letters to school administrators and local representatives to formally request the services and accommodations your child requires. Our aim is to ensure your child receives what they are legally owed.

IEP Review

We thoroughly review your child's draft Individualized Education Plan (IEP), focusing on creating Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (SMART) goals. We propose edits that best suit your child's needs and align with legal requirements.

Meeting Preparation

Prior to your child's ARD meeting, we provide a detailed breakdown of what to expect, including the meeting agenda, key topics, and potential challenges. We answer any questions you may have, ensuring you're well-prepared to advocate effectively for your child.

Meeting Attendance

Having a passionate advocate accompany you to an ARD meeting provides a knowledgeable presence that emphasizes the importance of your child's needs. When an advocate is by your side, it greatly enhances the likelihood of your concerns being heard and your child's rights being upheld.

Post-Meeting Support

An advocate's purpose doesn't diminish after the ARD meeting. WE Advocate offers ongoing support by following up with teachers, school personnel, and instructional staff to ensure your child's IEP is being faithfully implemented. If any issues arise, we provide advocacy support to address them promptly, ensuring that your child's educational needs are consistently met.
